SILENT™ Freestand
Dividing acoustic freestanding movable screens

Decho-Trend-logo Freestanding dividing screens for spaces partition

In some working fields, where creativity and team working are essential factors, the management of spaces in the open space mode can be an efficient solution.
Open-plan offices help the communication between people and promote the interaction and sharing of working projects. From the other side, against all these positive aspects, there could be some problems such as the difficulty to concentrate, the absence of privacy and an excessive noise level, that may lead to general conditions of psychophysical disease and stress for workers.
For a correct spaces managing, that could be able to balance the working needs and the individual wellbeing, it is necessary to split spaces and to create public zones for the interaction, and privacy zones for the concentration.
Nowadays the planning of duties and working tasks in businesses varies a lot, and this variation is incompatible with the traditional methods of permanent separation of spaces. Therefore, flexible and modular systems may be useful to configure and modify offices layout in a simple way, following the changing business needs.
SILENT™ Freestand line offers freestanding lightweight modules, easy to handle for the separation of spaces and the increase of sound privacy.
This system is particularly suitable for big open spaces to realize not permanent separations of working zones, but can also be put in small offices to screen the single desks, facilitating phone activities and working tasks that require a high concentration level, incompatible with a noisy environment.
SILENT™ Freestand dividing screens operate on a double level of acoustic functionalities, matching together sound insulation and sound absorption.
The term sound insulation is basically synonymous of “acoustic barrier” and defines the capacity of a material to block partially sound or noise. Sound insulating materials commonly have an internal rigid structure, as they act as a sort of diaphragm that contrasts sound waves, which are made of moving air masses.
From the other side, sound absorption is an acoustic quality mainly connected to the material surfaces, that must not be smooth nor compact and reflecting, but porous and permeable, in order to let a part of air particles to go inside the material and block their speed.
Sound absorption or acoustic absorption is a fundamental function in indoor environments, as it reduces the rebound of sound waves on surfaces. The rebound of sound waves is the main cause of reverberation and increase of the general noise.
Therefore sound insulation and sound absorption have two different functions, that in the acoustic applications before SILENT™ Freestand, commonly asked for a double layer of coupled materials, with an opposite physical substance (compact and highly massive for the sound insulation, lightweight and porous for the sound absorption).
Thanks to the particular structural qualities of the Polythene slab (100% polyester) they are made of, SILENT™ Freestand dividers match both the acoustic functions in a single-component material: high porosity external surfaces for sound absorption, and an inner compact core, rigid and self-supporting, for sound insulation, in association with the benefit of an extremely low weight.
SILENT™ Freestand screens offer bright and modern color options, with surfaces material textures similar to felt, capable of giving a valuable agreeability in tactile and visual aspects.
In the simplicity of their linear and essential style, SILENT™ Freestand screens get their inspiration from the criteria of functionality, durability and cost-effectiveness, without forgetting an attractive visual appeal and the usual attention to the design issues, typical of all Acustico® productions.

SILENT™ Freestand dividing screens are made of Polythene (100% ecologic polyester fiber)

The production process of Polythene requires the spinning and thermal compression of polyester colored fibers, compressed into semi-rigid and freestanding slabs, with an internal highly porous composition, in order to obtain high acoustic efficiency.
The material coloring is directly made during the paste production, and grants Polythene a deep dyeing and intense color rendering, enriched by a material texture of surfaces with a pleasant tactile and visual effect.

The advantages of Polythene polyester:
Ecological: 100% recyclable polyester and high percentage recycled
Fire-retardant: 100% fireproof polyester
Aesthetic: Incredible visual appeal of the material and strong perceived quality
Performing: High acoustic performances
Lightweight: Weight per square meter extremely low and under 2,5 kg/sqm in the 12 mm thickness version
Freestanding: Linear slabs even in lower thickness, thanks to the structural and self-supporting property of the internal fibrous pattern
Strong: Totally stable and unalterable over time, does not fear the moisture
Hygienic: Odorless, fireproof, durable, resistant to microorganisms and bacteria, does not contain artificial vitreous fibers
